This ski resort is located in the small quaint area known as Banner Elk, North Carolina, a great ski town in the mountains with lots of character to charm. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort has 20 slopes on 115 acres with 40% novice, 40% intermediate and 20% expert. It has 1 triple chairlift and 4 double chairlifts. Wolf Resort has 82 acres of skiing at 4700 feet with a vertical drop of 700 feet and the base of the mountain at 4000 ft. They boast 2 quad lifts, 2 double lifts and 1 surface lift, with night skiing, snowboarding, tubing, equipment rental and 100% snowmaking ability. Their ski school is one of the best around. The lodging in the area is warm and rustic. They have 2 lodges with massive stone fireplaces to relax in and a Steak & Rib Restaurant for a great hearty meal after a day on the slopes.
