A real treasure on the expansive shores of Lake Norman, The Landing is a Lake Norman icon that is absolutely worth visiting. Tucked away in picturesque Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, no visit to the Piedmont or Lake Norman region would be complete without a meal (or two) at The Landing.

Started in 1993, The Landing was created by the Genaro family, who continues to operate The Landing to this day. Natives of Chicago, this family brought a whole new level of simple, unfussy, culinary excellence to this corner of North Carolina. The Landing’s Special Ribs (a family recipe perfected by the original patriarch of the entire enterprise, Tony Genaro Sr.) are divine, as are their equally famous Buffalo Wings. Cooked at a variety of different flavors, these meaty wings can be as hot or mild as you want them to be.

Besides delicious finger foods, there is quite an extensive menu to be found at The Landing. Halina, the ruling matriarch of the Genaro family, makes mouthwatering homemade pizza on homemade dough – another special treat natives and visitors alike savor eating. Enormous 8 oz Cod Sandwiches, Pasta, Fajitas, Subs, Salads, Burgers, a myriad of chicken and fish sandwiches, and Grandmother Millie’s homemade meatballs and Italian sauces all deserve pride of place at your table.

Lest we forget, food is not the only fare at The Landing – the indoor and outdoor tiki bar is a perfect way to enjoy a refreshing beverage. The bar has a grass roof top and open airways throughout the entire summer, which allows all patrons to enjoy an unspoiled view of the beautiful lake. The bartenders here know how to make good mixed drinks, and the beer specials are amazing. While the adults are enjoying their drinks, little kids can run around the game room which features a pool table, foosball table, pinball table, and classic arcade games.

The casual atmosphere, the friendly ambience, the drinks, coupled with the food so good words can’t do it justice means that The Landing is a very popular place. Not to worry – if you are arriving by car, there is ample parking. If you are arriving by boat, The Landing has a dock adjacent to the restaurant which can accommodate twenty boats. However, if the docks are full, you can anchor your boat in the bay, and The Landing sends out their famous Tiki-Boat to shuttle you and your family to and from the Restaurant. Does it get any breezier than that?

If you are arriving by boat, The Landing is located just off the main channel, near mile marker 13. This quiet cove also contains The Boat Rack, and when you get close to The Boat Rack, turn left and go under the Slanting Bridge. If you are arriving by car, they are located off of Route 150 on Slanting Bridge Road.

Above all else, The Landing is a place for families. Enjoy the lakeside dining, fun music, and great company.
