Christmas at Grove Park Inn
Ever wonder how many gingerbread houses can fit into a hotel? Over 325 it seems. Take a visit to The Grove Park Inn, Asheville, North Carolina, thru January 6, 2008 and visit a fantasy of gingerbread, icing and candy embellishments any child could dream of. The Grove Park Inn has been home to this national competition for the last 15 years. The competition consists of adult, teen, and children categories, with the winnings totaling over $6,000 in cash and prizes. Judged by an expert panel of judges, participants work all year to come up with the perfect design.
Go to The Grove Park to view the Gingerbread Houses , but stay for all the other beauty that surrounds the hotel during the holidays. Tour the beautiful Christmas displays around the grand lobby as you warm by the giant fireplaces. The awards ceremony took place on November 12,2007 and had over 325 entries. They have been placed around the hotel for all to enjoy. During the week of December 18, 2007 the winners entries will take a trip to New York to be shown on “Good Morning America”.
If you need more than gingerbread or have some wee ones who might enjoy some fun, try Major Bear’s Holiday Party on December 8, 12 - 2 pm. Major Bear will host a holiday celebration your child will always remember. Stepping out onto the dance floor to do the Hokey Pokey will bring out the joy in any age. Each child will make a commemorative ornament to take home and put on the tree. Oh, and the food is adult friendly as well as child friendly. Party!!! Tickets must be purchased in advance from the Grove Park Inn.
A Grove Park Christmas Package is the perfect way to celebrate Christmas. From December 24- 26 you can get 3 days lodging, breakfast each day, Christmas holiday buffet and a table top Christmas tree for around $1100.
