Trans - Siberian Orchestra
Me, I’m a groupie of good rock and roll. Love to see any good band coming through town. See them once, maybe twice if I‘m really obsessed, but I’m an amateur compared to the groupies of the Trans - Siberian Orchestra. I have no doubt you know who they are, but if you are in the minority of those who don’t, sit back and let me explain….
In 1996, musician Paul O’Neill and his long time friends and collaborators Robert Kinkel and Jon Oliva joined forces to create a new musical force. Paul, playing with various bands over the years, was always looking for a way to make a bigger impact musically. He wanted to make music that was so melodic it didn’t need lyrics, to make lyrics so poetic they didn’t need music, and when played together they would explode into emotion that couldn’t be contained. He and his friends decided the best outlet for this was to create Rock Operas, but soon realized that a rock band couldn’t perform them. Rock bands usually had only one singer, and with many different parts, more singers were necessary to get the emotions across. Once the music was created, they decided to find the best. They searched from classical to rock, from Broadway to R&B. What they created was a cross section of musicians and singers whose hybrid of musical styles collided to create a nirvana of senses. What they created was a mesh of talent that would become beloved by all who would see them. What they created was the Trans - Siberian Orchestra! A band made up of around 33 of the best musicians ever collaborating on one stage. All together these musicians, singers, stage designers, and lighting experts create a spectacular experience you’ll never forget. As many will attest, if you see them once you are hooked!
From the beginning of November to the end of December the Trans- Siberian Orchestra makes it way through the country to celebrate the holiday season with it’s loyal following. With it’s elaborate stage show, and beautiful music, it’s the only holiday tradition you will ever need. It’s the one event you can share as a family during the Christmas season that everyone will enjoy.
In Charlotte we will get our annual visit December 21, 2007 at Cricket Arena. Most have been planning this for months and purchased tickets immediately when they went on sale. Gathering family together to share the joy and the spirit of Christmas, they make their way to the Arena dressed in sweaters of red and green. In Charlotte you’ll know it’s almost Christmas when the Trans - Siberian Orchestra is here. The good news is that if you can’t make the Charlotte, North Carolina date they will be in Raleigh , North Carolina on December 12 and Greensboro, North Carolina December 19. I would go see all 3 shows, because as we all know there is never too much Christmas or too much celebrating!
If you’re still not sure about the Trans - Siberian Orchestra may I suggest you listen to a song or 2? At their website you can hear some of the beautiful music they make and judge for yourself if you should let this one get away without you. Try this site and see what you think:
